After most of the family left on Wednesday, Mother, Josh, Mia, and I packed up for the weekend and continued our travels by heading North to the Baltic Sea, for a long weekend. Monday the 15th is a public Holiday here in Poland, celebrating the day of Assumption (Catholic Holiday of course) and also the national army day. It was a perfect excuse to pack up a rental car and head on a family road trip. Since many were on the roads due to the holiday weekend, Josh navigated through small country roads that eventually led us to our final destination. It turned out to be a very scenic route, driving us through the Mazurian Lakes and passing through the famous little town of Malbork, a town in Poland that houses one of the largest medieval castles in Europe. After stopping there for a bit to take pictures and checking out the castle grounds we ended just outside of Gdansk at a lovely spa resort tucked away in the forests. We explored the grounds and even fit in a massage where we later spent the evening wandering the city of Gdansk, Poland's principle seaport off the Baltic coast.
Here are pictures of Malbork and Gdansk. Another post on Sopot to be continued...
