Munich & Salzburg

This past weekend we hopped over to Munich to visit our family friends, Edy & Ian.  After a quick hour and a half flight we were at Edy & Ian's home enjoying a glass of wine and eating Edy's delicious Venezuelan Arrepas.  They are the BEST!

The next morning we spent a beautiful day in Munich, slowly strolling thru the town eating a variety of  yummy German food.  We finally stopped in to get Josh's pork knuckle that he had been salivating over since I told him we were going to Munich. It was about 4 years ago when Josh and I came here last and Edy & Ian had taken us to this German restaurant that is known for their pork knuckle.  Josh never got over how good it was, so it only made sense to make a little stop to fulfill his craving!! After a great stroll thru Munich's old town we ended the day none other than at the Hofbrauhaus house for some delicious home- brewed German beer.  No trip to Munich is ever complete without a visit here! We even got to enjoy the Bavarian Oomah band play the sounds of Germany's Bavaria.  After a few beers we headed home to get some sleep before having to get up early the next morning to catch our train to Salzburg, Austria.

By noon our train makes it to Salzburg.  Incase some of you may not know, Salzburg is the home of Mozart and of the film "The Sound of Music".  It is a beautiful city with the Austrian Alps as a beautiful  backdrop and a castle sitting magically on top of a hill overlooking the town and river. A charming place for sure! By the end of the evening we didn't hesitate to enjoy a cappuccino while nibbling on a variety of pastries before catching our train back to Munich.  It was a wonderful trip indeed and even more wonderful getting to spend time with our friends. We are excited to see Edy & Ian soon, as they will be visiting us next month, along with my Mom! YAY!!
