City Girl

Here is our little city girl out and about in Warsaw. She really has gotten comfortable with all forms of transportation and feels right at home here in Poland. =)

patiently waiting with her dad for their ride
Ready to board the metro to head to Centrum

She has finally gotten comfortable
riding the escalator. =)

Blueberry Pierogi's

Thursday we spent a busy afternoon making delicious blueberry pierogi's.  Caitlin has been talking them up since I first met her so it was nice to finally get to taste them for the first time. It was a tedious process for sure but worth every minute. Caitlin is a pro in the kitchen so Sarah and I were so excited we got to join in as her little helpers. I even think I might try to make them when I get back to Houston. Yum!

Here are some pictures of us hard at work!

Our delicious Greek lunch before all the hard work.
We needed some energy for all that pierogi making.

Blueberry season in Poland is about July-September. So right now they
are selling like hot cakes!  This is a picture of  the last basket of wild
blueberries that was waiting just for us! =)

Night out in Warsaw

Friday we spent a great night out with friends. Josh and I dined at a swanky Asian/Fusion restaurant called Papaya. The food was delicious and I am sure we will be back there real soon. After Josh and I's date we met up with our friends for some wine and sangria at a Tapas restaurant right off of Nowy Swiat. It was a fun night getting to catch up with friends and also getting to meet new people. The night ended at a nearby bar called "Warszawa Powiśle", an old train station from back in the communism days that has been converted into a bar. It is a busy and lively place, where we all got to enjoy some good old hip hop jams! =)

We really enjoyed ourselves and we even managed to lose track of time. It has been awhile since we've stayed out that late and I have to admit we didn't exactly feel our best the next morning. It is sad to say but we are realizing more and more how hard it is to recover from a late night out, now that we are getting older. I guess that just happens when you start to approach your thirties. HA HA!

Caitlin breaking it down! =)

Mini Me

A couple weekends ago we got to play doggie parents to our friends sweet snoodle, Charlie.  He is such a cutie and Mia and I always get super excited to have him over. The two play really well together and Josh was even happy to have some male testosterone around. Although the weather was pretty rainy all weekend we still managed to entertain. Josh even played a few tunes for them with his guitar. They were thoroughly amused! =)

I also think it is so cute that when we take them out together people assume Mia is Charlie's momma. So we have nicknamed Charlie "Mini Me". Here are a few pics of our weekend dog sitting. We even got a 1am surprise. We learned later that the firework show was due to Poland taking over the rotating presidency of the European Union. But since it was so close to the 4th of July I like to think it was secretly a little celebration to our wonderful country. Happy Birthday America!! We Miss you!!

Sweet sweet Charlie! "Mini Me"
Please excuse the hideous bright orange sheets.
They are obviously not my pick! ha

 Pretty great surprise!
Congrats Poland and Happy Birthday America!!

To Friends!

Yesterday Josh and I spent a lovely evening with our Polish friends. Magdalena, my friend from work in Houston, came to Poland to pack up her daughter Olivia so they could head back to the States where she will begin her medical school rotations. I am so sad she won't be near us anymore. It was a huge comfort knowing she was only a few hours away but I know Momma is one happy Lady now!

We are so thankful we were able to spend an evening together before they parted ways. Josh and I are lucky to have these wonderful people in our lives and we know that we will be remain good friends as time goes on. After all, they will forever be our Polish family! Thank you Magda for a delicious dinner at Nu Nu's! We absolutely love that place!
